Firefox and chrome Apollo portal Windows Authentication support issue

by Technical Evangelist 2 weeks ago (11 Views)

Some cusotmers reported that Apollo portal Windows authentication doesn't work on Firefox and Chrome, while no issue with IE.

Basically Firefox and Chrome will not show windows user account

While IE will automatically login as windows authentication user:

Firefox does not support integrated Windows authentication out of the box (and "integrated Windows authentication" means automatically authenticating as the logged in Windows user). You may configure Firefox to support integrated windows auth, but it's not a publicly documented/supported feature.

Chrome has better integrated windows auth support, but you still have to add the server to the intranet zone in the Internet Options. This is what IE uses to determine whether it should auto login too.
Windows Control Panel > Network and Internet > Internet Options > Security > Local intranet > Sites > Advanced
You had to place the fully qualified domain name of the server

You can try the following:
http://host.company.com
*.company.topic.com

Some customer reported that "*.company.topic.com" worked for both IE and chrome.
