Remote Management for APOLLO Core

by Moderator on ‎06-07-2019 07:30 AM - edited on ‎03-30-2020 01:01 AM by Technical Evangelist (232 Views)

Starting with Java 9, Oracle deprecated the technology we used to launch the Console remotely (Java Web Start). Rather than leave the ability in that worked for some but not others depending of the Java version, the APOLLO Core team decided to remove it to prevent confusion as part of the general support for Java >8 across APOLLO.

Java Deployment Technologies are deprecated and will be removed in a future release

Java Applet and WebStart functionality, including the Applet API, The Java plug-in, the Java Applet Viewer, JNLP and Java Web Start including the javaws tool are all deprecated in JDK 9 and will be removed in a future release.

However, the solution is quite simple:

  • Copy all files within C:\Program Files\Hexagon\ERDAS APOLLO\server\ to a new machine
  • Open NCSSvGUI.exe

No installation package is needed and the Console will open just as before. The requirements are the same that a JRE needs to be installed on this new machine.

Don't forget to set the Java environment properly, see:
