As a GeoMedia user, I want to be able to access the different file formats supported by GeoMedia via a drag-and-drop action without having to go through warehouse connection commands, so that data interaction and visualization are made simpler and faster.

Copying comment as suggested:

Drag and Drop for text files and and text file server defenition to be inside geomedia rather than as a sperate utility.

I previously worked at many client sites and from the user feedback they would like to:
•Drag and drop a file into the application window,
•Identify if it is a text file , or csv (support for common extensions. For others there is Text file format server)
•Then show the TFD preview window and application continue from there.

Status changed to: Targeted for an upcoming release

We plan to include this with GeoMedia 16.6, currently targeting Oct 2019.  It will support the following file-based warehouse types:

  • GeoPackage
  • Access
  • Shapefile
  • File Geodatabase
  • KML
  • GeoMedia SmartStore
  • Excel

Requests for any additional types must be submitted as new individual ideas, and may (or may not) be added on a case-by-case basis.

Does anybody know how can we add support for our own file based data servers in GeoMedia 2020 for Drag and Drop ?
