Problem using a geomedia query in WFS data source - areal feature - can't zoom from dataview

[ Edited ]

I am using the GeoSpatial Portal SDK on a machine with only Webmap Essentials installed.  I can add a WMPS service with no problem via code or by using the Define a Data source icon. However i can not add a WFS service i created from my same webmap project.

I am using the following code:  (substituting "machinename" for my server name)

$GP.services.add({
url: "http://machinename/JD_WFS_Service/service.svc/get",
definitionName: "WFS",
id: "wfs"
}, function (result) {
$GP.ui.info(result.message + " [" + result.msId + "]");
});

The error message i get is

Map service init error (http://machinename/JD_WFS_Service/service.svc/get).: Name cannot begin with the '1' character, hexadecimal value 0x31.

Any idea as to what is wrong?

Thanks,

Jane

Re: Adding a WFS service source on local machine from SDK webpage

This looks as though the XML parser barfed at the Capabilities document for whatever reason. Retrieve the Capabilities XML (http://machinename/JD_WFS_Service/service.svc/get?request=getcapabilities&service=wfs) and:
1. Verify that the XML is well-formed (e.g. by using http://www.w3schools.com/xml/xml_validator.asp)

2. Check whether the feature typenames are valid XML QNames (see my answer in the other thread), this means that the the strings on both sides of the colon cannot begin with a number. If that is the case, you need to republish the WFS Service Source using different names for the legend entries.

Re: Adding a WFS service source on local machine from SDK webpage

[ Edited ]

I did the validation and got www.w3schools.com "no errors found" message.

I don't have any features with names that begin with numbers - i double checked in GeoMedia.  My connection strings to my warehouses are long hex numeric strings because web map publisher transforms the connection names to make sure they are unique.  Is the only parameter required to make the connection, the one i have highlited below?  Do i leave off the ? when specifying it - i notice it is left off in the SDK examples....

Re: Adding a WFS service source on local machine from SDK webpage

i tried connecting to my wfs data source from geomedia and got the following message:

Schema declaration for namespace 'http://12.33.44.55/geomedia/gml' is not found.   (made up url  that I substituted for real one just for this message)

Re: Adding a WFS service source on local machine from SDK webpage

It looks that you've changed the features' namespace setting in the Settings dialog of the WebMap Publisher Administrator. This shouldn't be a problem, but for whetever reason this made GeoMedia throw up. Revert it back to the original setting:

2017-02-10 12_15_44-GeoMedia Professional - GeoWorkspace1.png

This will take one variable out and we'll be able to verify whether GeoMedia connects now. There usually is no need to change this, and the URL doesn't need to point to your machine.

I'd like you to also present the names of the features as they are in the Capabilities response. E.g. for one of the demo server WFSes, the feature type list looks like so:

	<wfs:FeatureTypeList>
		<wfs:FeatureType>
			<wfs:Name>gmgml:BUILDINGS</wfs:Name>
			<wfs:Title>BUILDINGS</wfs:Title>
			<wfs:DefaultCRS>EPSG:4326</wfs:DefaultCRS>
			<wfs:OtherCRS>EPSG:3857</wfs:OtherCRS>
			<wfs:OutputFormats>
				<wfs:Format>text/xml; subtype=gml/2.1.2</wfs:Format>
				<wfs:Format>text/xml; subtype=gml/3.0.0</wfs:Format>
				<wfs:Format>text/xml; subtype=gml/3.1.1</wfs:Format>
				<wfs:Format>text/xml; subtype=gml/3.2</wfs:Format>
			</wfs:OutputFormats>
			<ows:WGS84BoundingBox>
				<ows:LowerCorner>19.466 51.764</ows:LowerCorner>
				<ows:UpperCorner>19.478 51.77</ows:UpperCorner>
			</ows:WGS84BoundingBox>
		</wfs:FeatureType>
	</wfs:FeatureTypeList>

What do you have inside your <Name> tag?

Re: Adding a WFS service source on local machine from SDK webpage

I've set the Features Namespace back to ttp://www.intergraph.com/geomedia/gml in the Publisher Administrator Settings dialog box and this is what i get when i run the instance from the Administration Console

Re: Adding a WFS service source on local machine from SDK webpage

I needed to check off Feature Collection in WFS Namespace on the Settings dialog box from Publisher Administrator in GeoMedia.

I can now connect to the wfs instance from the sdk  (leave of ? at the end of this string

http://machinename/JD_WFS_Service/service.svc/get?I

I still have 2 prolblems though:

The parcels are areal features in GeoMedia but when added through WFS they appear to be compound features.  When I try to set their symbology I have to choose point, line, or areal.

Then when I add my query result to the dataview and try to zoom (Action Zoom) to it with the magnifying glass I get the message:

Unable to cast object of type 'Intergraph.WebSolutions.Core.WebClient.MapManager.Common.CrsGeometry' to type 'System.Collections.Generic.IDictionary`2[System.String,System.Object]'.

Also I can’t get Properties (Action Properties in dataview) – The feature info dialog box displays but only the attribute names are displayed – all values are blank.

Re: Adding a WFS service source on local machine from SDK webpage

[ Edited ]

This email is an automated notification to inform you that the Status of SR

1-2060268871 has been updated to “CR - Defect / CR - Filed.”

The summary of this SR is “Cannot perform attribute query on WFS data - get system error -2147012890.”  (this is in GeoMedia)

The problem is you can't perform a query on a query from a WFS instance.  Since WMPS can't access queries other than to display them, I need to use a WFS instance.  It is possible to query the WFS data source query and get the database records displayed but can't then zoom to them with magnifier. You also can't add them to the legend.   This problem was verified by hexagon in both GeoMedia and Webmap.  In GeoMedia you get  the system error when trying to formulate the query using the pulldown menu in Attribute query
