Saving color images for word processors

Question

Importing pseudo color .tif images into a document will not save the pseudo colors. The imported image into MS Word is grey. How can the pseudo colors be maintained?

Answer

Most non-image-processing software programs (MS Word) will not recognize a single-layer pseudo color image and will display them as grayscale instead. A suggested option is to convert the pseudo color image to a three-band color RGB image that will display correctly in other software programs.

You can perform this task with the Thematic to RGB tool (Raster tab > Raster GIS group > Thematic > Thematic to RGB).
When specifying the Output file, change the "Files of type" option to TIFF.
