Change detection autogrid error

We are facing some issues when using autogrid option in Zonal Change Detection in Erdas Imagine 2016.
As input we have 2 .ecw files from different years and both files are in EPSG 3844 projection . When trying to compute the grid with the autogrid option we are getting this error:
3844 EPSG CODE error on Change detection
Error obtaining coordinate transformation
Error obtaining coordinate transformation
Unsupported moniker
Failed to recognize Authority Code with Authority "GeoKey
Moniker" and Authority Code
"1,1,0,13/1024,1/2048,32767/2050,6179/3072,32767/3074,32767/3075,9809/3076,9001/3080,25.000000000000007/3081,46.000000000000007/3082,500000.0/3083,500000.0/3092,0.99975000000000003/4096,5773"

If we are using the same input files reprojected in Geographic Projection (EPSG: 4326) everything works fine.

Any suggestions in solving this ?

Re: Change detection autogrid error

There are two possible reasons workaround for this kind of issues

1) Projection used here is bit more advanced compared to 4326 and Imagine probably reads some global DEM/other datases etc. from different projection to support this change detection and that fails.

2) And it most likely fails because of the fileformat as writing coordinates to .ecw is way harder than writing coordinates in .img

So first trial - convert your .ecw files to .img and try same process again. If that fails then go that different working projection and use that in processing. As a reportable thing errors like this should go to Hexagon support so that they can fix the bug - so contact your local support and report this issue. Sounds like pretty clear bug that should be fixed but as told there could be some workarounds to make your process run immediately.
