What is the correct process to import Sentinel-2 data?
I have downloaded a scene from https://scihub.copernicus.eu/dhus/ and unzipped the files.
I would assume to process is either;
Import Data > Choose Sentinel-2 (Direct Read) > Select the S2A_*.SAFE file (Which is actually the folder).
Import Data > Choose Sentinel-2 Manifest (Direct Read) > Select the manifest.safe file.
However, both of these result in the error "...FileOpen failed (33:Unsuppored Raster format or non-Raster format).
Is there some other way to do this?

The Sentinel-2 product naming format was recently updated. The product naming, including the naming of folders and files inside the product structure, has been compacted to overcome the 256 characters limitation on pathnames imposed by Windows platforms. The issue you are experiencing will be fixed in ERDAS IMAGINE 2017 (v17.0). It is possible to open the individual Sentinel-2 JPEG2000 (*.jp2) image files in ERDAS IMAGINE 2016. You can use the Layer Selection and Stacking tool to combine these individual files into a multi-layer image.
ERDAS IMAGINE > Raster tab > Resolution group > Spectral menu > Layer Stack

Hotfix now available!
Hexagon Geospatial has recently completed work on a Hotfix for ERDAS IMAGINE 2016 v16.1 to address the issue of the altered Sentinel-2 formatting. If you would like to utilize the updated software in order to be able to directly read the updated format please visit the Download section of our website:
Note that using the direct-read capability avoids any decompression / recompression issues associated with the original JPEG 2000 encoded data.
Please also remember that Sentinel-2 images consist of a mixture of differing pixel resolutions. These can be accessed at their native resolutions (and in different groupings) through use of the Sub-Images tab of the File Chooser when opening the SAFE dataset.
