a customer of our is experiencing some problems in working with Stereo Analyst for Arcgis (the system is really slow). They work with aerial blocks with hundreds of images.
This is the computer:
They cannot change the hardware. Can they improve the performance of the system managing any settings in SAFA?
Thank you very much

Can you provide more details of the performance issue that is observed? Is Stereo Analyst for ArcGIS slow to start? Slow for stereo viewing? Slow for for feature editing? Etc.?

If project browsing/loading is slow, please go to SAfA options->Stereo Display Advanced Tab and then uncheck photogrammetry projects that you won't import, specially satellite projects (Digitial globe, IKONOS), this may accelerate browsing and loading.
If the problem is refreshes of the ArcMap window, please test loading the block file with Block File Image Pair Manager. Please note that BFIPM specifically does not load Images into the Map Doc - that’s a most fundamental reason for its existence because Images in the map doc:
• consume lots of memory resulting in out of memory crashes in image heavy projects,
• slow down refreshes of the map doc.
• are not orthographically correct unless an elevation source is encoded and available (rarely) so they cause confusion when features don’t match the rendered imagery.
To use BFIPM, in SAfA options->Stereo Display select BFIPM then on Stereo Pairs Tab double click Auto Selection.
Please check if these two settings will make any difference.
