Re: Auto load attributes values from the map window to the layout

((A majority of the overall map design of the layout sheet occurs when designing the layout template. It is at this point where the map frames are positioned in the layout sheet and where the associated Base map marginalia frames are placed using the Insert Layout Frames command. In addition, variable text strings can be placed in the layout template. During processing, all of the variable text strings are automatically substituted with the appropriate information obtained from System, GeoWorkspace, or Warehouse sources. The Warehouse variables are determined by the attributes available on the Base map’s map extent definition, enabling you to substitute attribute values associated with the Base map definition during processing. For example, if the map extent feature class has an attribute called ‘Name’, the value of this attribute can be substituted from ‘[Name]’ in the layout template to ‘attribute value’ in the completed composition. This can be beneficial for automatically assigning map titles or other information specifically associated with a given Base map occurrence. The remainder of the map design takes place during the composition phase in Batch Plotting.))

 I have read this explanation.
But I need more information about ((variable text strings))

It only works with Batch Plotting. You have to use the following syntax: [Attribute Name]

Take a look at this layout template file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Hexagon\GeoMedia Professional\Templates\Layouts\BatchComposition.glt

Thank you bsouza for your reply.

  1. Once the Layout template has been loaded, each map frame found in the template is listed in the Map frames table under the Map frames column,

How to define the map frames in the new template file?

Hi!

You have to set up a layout template using the Layout Frame command:

Re: Auto load attributes values from the map window to the layout

Hi all,

Be careful, the groups of the layout frames MUST be named to be recognized in the BatcPlotting utility. You must modify the properties of the group (Right clic > Properties) before saving your layout template

If the groups have no names defined, they are not seen by the Batch Plotting
