How can linear data that contains geometry collections be validated/corrected so that it is suitable for input to the GeoMedia Transportation LRS analysis commands?
This workflow will demonstrate the Reformat Linear Collections command to repair some of the issues apparent in feature classes that contain linear geometry collections. Geometry collections are common in linear feature classes that originated in a CADD or MGE/MGSM environment and are defined as being a grouping of multiple geometries being associated with a single record in the feature class. If left unrepaired, these collections can cause incorrect results to be output in the GeoMedia Transportation Manager LRS analysis commands.
The Reformat Linear Collections command will process one linear collection at a time in the input dataset and rearrange the vertices contained in that geometry. Linear collections that are connected end to end will be converted to polylines; whereas linear collections that contain gaps will remain as collections. Updated geometries are then written back to the database.
Transportation > LRS Maintenance > Reformat Linear Collections
Select the linear feature class or query to be used as the input from the drop down box ‘Reformat linear collections in:’
Use ‘Browse’ to Choose a location and file to become the log file for this command to which errors will be reported.
Run command by selecting ‘Ok’
