Question

How can SQL-Server native data coming from an outside process via a view be utilized in GeoMedia?

Answer

As long as the view will be READ ONLY, the following will work. For example, if there is a table named RandomPoints that is defined as:

CREATE TABLE [dbo].[RandomPoints] [ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [ptlocation] [geometry] NULL,CONSTRAINT [RandomPoints_PK] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED

To use this in GeoMedia as a Read-Only view without modifying the original table, the following view can be created:

CREATE VIEW RP_V AS SELECT ID, ptlocation, CAST (NULL as varbinary(max)) as ptlocation_gdo from [dbo].[RandomPoints]

Then assign the appropriate metadata via Database Utilities. For best results, the views should be defined in an alternate schema or database that has GeoMedia's metadata tables already defined.
