Just for information,
Writing reports to a local folder (C:\test), by GMSC, works fine when given full writes to NETWORK SERVICE user.
Is it the same regarding a network folder (like N:\x\y\z)? We are now about to install the application at place where the GMSC has to write files to a network folder.
Version: GMSC 2015 EP01

From a strictly NTFS / Windows / OS perspective it depends on your permissions on the servers in the domain but it is possible.
When thinking about NETWORK SERVICE just think about it authenticating using the machine account in the domain instead of a user account for authentication.
The question is though, would it work using mapped network drive and I can not see why this would not work in the context of GMSC reporting but I haven't tried it though so I do not know for sure.

One of our configurations also required access to domain resources.
We changed the IIS applicaiton pools for GMSC* app pools to run under a AD domain service account instead of default network service and the 'Intergraph Tile Service' local service to run under the same AD domain service account.
Off course you have to grant permissions on the local server to allow the AD domain service account equiv rights as the Network Service account.
We used UNC paths from memory, avoided mapped drives.
