User unable to open Smart Client 15 since Windows 10 upgrade - Could not verify signing in resource

Hi there.

 

We have one particular user who is having a problem that nobody else has reported.

When she tries to open Smart Client v15.0.1.0_20150616.1 she get's an error

Her Java settings are the same as mine and others. She is on Java 1.8.111 at the moment, down from 131.

I tried downloading a new JNLP with no luck. Her cache location looks fine.

 

We have all been given new devices with Windows 10 and so far she is the only one with this particular problem.

Hello Josh.

 

I would 1st try a different user on that machine to track down if it is machine specific or account specific, It may be a bad windows profile for that user.

If machine specific I would reinstall Java, recommend 64 bit which is an offline install.(https://java.com/en/download/faq/java_win64bit.xml#Java for 64-bit).

Hi Marc,

 

I logged in this morning but it still didn't open.

 

We did try an earlier version of Java (8u91 64 bit) yesterday with no luck.

 

I imagine it is something to do with the machine itself.

Hi Josh.

 

If your login had the same issue then then it is machine specific.

I would at this point delete the java cache in the Java console and verify manually that it has all been deleted.

If that does not work I would create a c:\temp (Open it wide open for testing purposes .. full control for everyone) and change the TMP and TEMP system environment variables for the system to point to the c:\Temp folder to see if that works.

If that doesn't work I would remove Java and make sure all associated directories and caches are clean, install the latest version of Java 64 bit and see if that works.

 

The other question I have is there any errors in the systems event logs under system or application?

We found another user on an Windows 7 device with the same problem.

 

We completely uninstalled all versions of Java before reinstalling the correct version and it now works.

We will try this with the first machine and see how that goes.
