Grid Analysis with GeoMedia 3D Tutorial Data
This dataset is for  all of the tutorials noted below. This dataset is a zip file and it is approximately 75 MB. Click the download link below to download the zip file to your computer. Once the download has completed, unzip this file and place the extracted folder “GeoMedia 3D Tutorial” on your C drive (C:\Grid Analysis and 3D Tutorials\). 


01 Hotspot Detection and Analysis
Hotspots is an approach that is ideally suited for extracting  spatial concentrations from point-based features.  The objective this tutorial is to introduce a wide variety of workflows that demonstrate various hotspot detection and analysis techniques. These approaches can be applied to a wide variety of industries such as to Public Safety (crime events), Utilities (outage events), or Transportation (accident events).


02 Calculating Volume
Volume is the quantity of 3D space enclosed by some closed boundary. For example, the space that a substance (solid, liquid, or gas) occupies. Volume is often quantified numerically using a derived unit, such as the cubic meter. The objective of this tutorial is to introduce users to the concept of volume calculations within the GeoMedia Desktop. 


03 Visual Impact Assessment
Viewshed analysis is a fundamental technique in grid-based GIS and has many applications in resource development and tourism. For example, resource extraction companies use viewshed analysis to limit their development to those areas that cannot be viewed from highways or urban areas. The objective of this tutorial is to introduce the concept of viewshed analysis using a real world example.
