Working with excel files in Geomedia

Dear all,

Isn't possible to attach an excel file to a Postgis connection or shapefiles?

I have to create, necessarily, an empty access db to work with excel file?

Of the databases supported by GeoMedia, Microsoft Access is to my knowledge unique in providing this ability.  If you discover that Oracle, SQL Server, PostGIS, or GeoPackage provides this capability, we would be interested to know about it.  Although I doubt it would change our plans (see below).

 

You could also study use of the ODBC Tabular data server to get your Excel data into GeoMedia, and if you save your spreadsheet as a CSV file you may also be able to use the Text File data server.

 

Regarding plans, we are heading in the direction of a dedicated data server for Excel.  See these contributed Ideas and feel free to vote on them or comment further:
