a customer request: is there available in the documentation any pratical description of what is possible to view using the different band combinations available for a specific sensor?

You can find tables listing the bands and wavelengths for specific sensors in the Producer Field Guide, but it does not provide examples of what can be viewed with different band combinations for every sensor. There are a lot of other resources available which provide this information, for example: http://web.pdx.edu/~emch/ip1/bandcombinations.html

I am looking for the files where I can define a default band combination for a specific sensor.
So I need
a) define the sensorname
b) define and name the band combinations
I know that these are textfiles, but I can't rember where to find them.

thank you, This is what I meant.
I was successful doing it for a couple of bands, but fail to do it for a Hyperspectral sensor with 271 bands.
When I access my bandcombinations IMAGINE closes.
I guess there is something wrong in the file.
Since I haven't got the wavelength information, I have used dummy values.

Make sure the band count and band combination count are correct. Basially, make sure everything is correct :-)
Only if you're needing to use the wavelegnths, e.g. in spectral proessing. There may be a limitation that they have to be in ascnding order (can't remember for sure).
No. It just needs to be correct.
