How to fill an AOI with a constant value?

The procedure for changing the pixel values inside an AOI has changed since the previous version. The Area Fill tool is opened by highlighting the image in the Contents panel and then selecting the Fill icon found in the Edit group under the Multispectral or Panchromatic or Thematic tab depending on what type of data you have displayed in the Viewer. The other “Area Fill” tool found under the Drawing tab is actually just a color chooser used for selecting the style to fill AOIs.

  • Display the image in the IMAGINE 2D View
  • Display the AOI in the same IMAGINE 2D View or create a new AOI from File | New | AOI Layer…
  • Make sure that the AOI to be filled is selected
  • Highlight the raster image in the Contents panel
  • Open the Area Fill tool by clicking on the Fill icon in found in the Edit group under the Panchromatic/Multispectral/Thematic tab.
  • Make sure the Function is set to Constant and that the Fill With value is set to the new pixel value that you want.
  • Click the Apply button to convert the pixel values within the AOI polygon to the new pixel value

If using a Panchromatic or Multispectral image, a warning message will pop up saying "Since this function modifies the pixel values of the image, you may wish to recalculate the statistics and histogram for the layer before doing any other operation that depends on this data.” Click OK. Save your image. Remove your image from the 2D View and redisplay it.

"Make sure that the AOI is selected".........How can I check programmatically, if an AOI is selected?

I'm a frequent user of the Recode Tool in Imagine 2018 (Thematic Tab -> Edit Group) recoding specific pixel values within a selected AOI to new values. Unfortunately, when I forget to select an AOI first, then pixels in the whole image get recoded!

Is there a programmatic way, i.e. in the EML file (viewerrecode.eml) to check automatically, if an AOI is selected?
