Question

Creating an ECW Mosaic in IMAGINE Essentials, File size limitations?

Answer

The user can open several images in the IMAGINE Viewer as a Virtual Mosaic and then save those as one ECW image that is about 8 times smaller than the original virtual mosaic input.

Input less than 250 Gpixels of image data into the IMAGINE Viewer.
Note that 250Gpixels = (250,000,000,000 pixels = input rows x input cols x input bands)

When saving the image to ECW the user has the option to choose Save As…or Save View As Image…, and then select .ecw as the format.
If you choose the Save View As Image, make sure you are zoomed in at a 1 to 1 ratio (theres an icon to zoom in 1:1 on the Home Tab).
