Setup.exe will not run as the install program
The executable file 'setup.exe' is used to run ERDAS software installations.
Some Windows systems are configured where Windows file extensions are hidden. When the filename extensions are hidden, the file listed as 'setup.exe' may not be the install executable but instead may be the XLM configuration file. Users might select ‘setup.exe’ which prompts the ‘Open with’ dialogue to run. If the incorrect file is selected to run as the installer, this will prompt the Windows ‘Open with’ dialogue to run instead of starting the Install Wizard.
If the known filename extensions are hidden, the file listed under the Name column as ‘Setup' and listed under the Type column as 'Application' is the correct file to run as the installer.
To avoid future confusion, users can use Windows Folder Options to turn off hiding extensions for known file types. The correct application file is then more easily identified.
