Question

What does the Tasseled Cap output represent in ERDAS ER Mapper?

Answer

If you look in the algorithm dialog box you will see three Tasseled Cap transformation images - brightness, greenness, and wetness - each in its own Pseudocolor layer.

Each Tasseled Cap pseudocolor layer has four bands transformed by weighted coefficients into a single pseudocolor image. You can look at the formula applied by clicking the EMC^2 button. The standard coefficients generally provide good indicators of the three parameters brightness, greenness, and wetness. A Tasseled Cap transformation offers a way to optimize data viewing for vegetation studies.

There are standard algorithm files in the example folder which can be used to create Tasseled Cap outputs with similar data types.
