Type 56 Elements

I am new to Imagestation and we are getting ready to move to Bentley SS4 Open Roads Technology. Our current seed files have a header pretaining to Type 56 elements, but no one here knows if that technology is out dated. Do we still need Type 56 Element headers written in out microstation seed files?
