Cannot connect to license server system – wrong port@host

A client machine has been using the same server and port reference for some time without issue, but is now experiencing the error “Cannot connect to license server system. The license server manager (lmgrd) has not been started yet, the wrong port@host or license file is being used.”


How can this be resolved?


Use a text editor to open the licensing log file found on the license server system. The log file is named “IntergraphLicensingService.log” and is found in the folder C:\Users\Public\Intergraph\Licenses.


Find the license service (lmgrd) TCP port address. Look for a line that resembles the example below where the lmgrd port is set to 27001.


17:55:26 (lmgrd) lmgrd tcp-port 27001


Is this the same port that the client system is configured to use?


No – Configure the client system to use the port as defined in the log file or reconfigure the port on the license server to the port referenced in the log file.

Yes – If there is an active firewall running on the server or the client machines, inbound and outbound ports will need to be opened for the license service to function.
