Question

What is the maximum number of days that a license can be borrowed from a concurrent license service before the user will need to reconnect to the service and borrow again?

Answer

The maximum time that a license can be borrowed differs based on the type of licensing method being used as noted below.

  • Licenses hosted on a license service using certificate-based licenses (.lic files) can be borrowed for up to 150 days.
  • Licenses hosted on license service using Activation ID based licenses can be borrowed for up to 242 days.

Therefore:

150 days is the maximum number of days a license can be borrowed for 2016 and 2018 offline certificated base (.lic) licenses before reconnecting to the license service.

-and-

242 days is the maximum number of days a license can be borrowed for 2018 Activation ID based licenses before reconnecting to the license service.
