Unable to start updated Hexagon Geospatial software with new license.

Question

After installing the latest version of Hexagon Geospatial’s Power Portfolio software and activating the new license the software will not start and it reports that “A valid license was not found.” Checking the IntergraphLicensingService.log file found in the folder C:\Users\Public\Intergraph\Licenses on the license server indicates that the client is a newer version than the the vendor daemon.

 

Request denied: Client (11.16) newer than Vendor Daemon (11.14). (Version of vendor daemon is too old.)

Answer

In order for the license service to correctly serve licenses to the client it must be the same version or newer. For example, this issue will occur if ERDAS IMAGINE 2020 is installed on a client system, but the license server still has Geospatial License Administrator 2018 installed. Upgrading the license service to match the version on the client system will resolve the problem. In this case installing Geospatial License Administrator 2020 will allow the licenses to be served for ERDAS IMAGINE 2020.
