Geospatial Licensing 2020 Tool does not work

[ Edited ]

The Geospatial Licensing 2020 Tool cannot be started after installation!

Only the message "Geospatial Licensing 2020 does not work" appears. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I have installed the Geospatial Licensing 2020 Tool on three other clients and it works fine there.

Re: Geospatial Licensing 2020 Tool does not work

Hi, Erido!

Since the Geospatial Licensing 2020 works on other machines for you, the most probable causes would be:

  1. Missing Visual Studio redistributables, or a botched install of those. The Geospatial Licensing 2020 comes with the appropriate files in its installer, but since Microsoft made changes to the way the Visual Studio C++ runtimes are installed and maintained (now with Windows Updates), this sometimes does not suffice.
Try to install the appropriate redistributables yourself, after downloading them from: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads. The Geospatial Licensing 2020 requires the 32-bit version of the runtimes.
  2. A problem with your .NET Framework installation. The Geospatial Licensing 2020 does its best to detect if the .NET Framework 4.7.2 or later is installed on the machine and if it's not - install it. If this didn't succeed, or the installation was corrupted before in some way, you might want to try to repair it manually. Ensure that you have .NET Framework 4.7.2 installed and if it is - use the .NET Framework Repair Tool from Microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2698555/microsoft-net-framework-repair-tool-is-available

Let us know if after these you got your Geospatial Licensing 2020 into working order.
