M.App Enterprise Installation, Service could not be installed.

Hi All,

Trying to install M.App Enterprise on one of our servers, i am getting the following error, once the installer has almost finished running:

"Service "M.App Service (M.App Service) could not be installed", Verify that you have Sufficient privileges to install system services", Screenshot attached

I Have already tried the following:

 - The user from which I am logged in is a local system administrator user

 - The Warehouse User is also a local System Administrator User

 - Running the installer as an administrator

 - Already tried adding "create and logon as a service" security right to both the users

 - The error is coming on both M.App enterprise installer as well as Tile service installer

 - The wharehouse location has full system rights from both the users

Please Help!

Re: M.App Enterprise Installation, Service could not be installed.

Hi,

are you trying to install on a new server or upgrading an existing one? There could be the possiblity the installer is not able to delete the existing services, so you might need to restart the server first.

Hi Stefano,

Thanks for your reply, however this is a new installation, and there is no existing Mapp enterprise service present in the server,

having said that, we have tried restarting the server a couple of times with the same issue persisting.

Re: M.App Enterprise Installation, Service could not be installed.

IMO, this happens because of the username/domain that we enter while installation.

Goto windows services, find M.App Enterprise service. Goto its properties > Log On tab > change it to 'Local System Account'.

Now click on the error message of the M.App installer and let it continue. This should work for the Tile Service installer as well.

Let us know if this worked for you.

Hi,

please check if the services (M.App Service and M.App Tile Service) got installed in a previous attempt. If this is the case please uninstall them manually from an elevated command prompt:

sc delete "M.App Service"

Then make sure the services.msc window is closed when you install.

As suggested you may try to install running the services as local system account and then use a dedicated account afterwards.

Regards,

Stefano

Re: M.App Enterprise Installation, Service could not be installed.

Yes, that is correct. The user/domain specified in this step requires 'log on as a service' permissions. If that is not in place for this user on this domain via the group policy then the message "Error 1923"  "Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services" will be encountered.

See Microsofts instructions on how to add this here
