Unable to connect with Oracle 11

Has anybody managed to connect successfully with an Oracle 11 (11g) database to load data from there?

I tried it with our Oracle 11g database and there is always an error.

Thanks in advance

Re: Unable to connect with Oracle 11

If you have the Oracle Client Software (11g) installed it should work.

Re: Unable to connect with Oracle 11

Hi,

Can you post your error message when you try to connect, if any?

Are you trying to access tables or views, or both?

Do you have tnsnames.ora configured correctly?

Re: Unable to connect with Oracle 11

Hi @Jonny,

I can't even connect with the database, but the aim would be to access tables and views.

tnsnames.ora is configured the same way we did on other servers:

ORACTEST =
  (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = RGDZODB01)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SERVER = DEDICATED)
      (SERVICE_NAME = ORACTEST)
    )
  )

Here is the error message I get:

System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess, Version=4.112.3.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.: Oracle.DataAccess, Version=4.112.3.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342

Re: Unable to connect with Oracle 11

I assume one is 32-bit and the other 64-bit. Which version of the Oracle Client did you install? (Instant, Runtime, ...)
