Vector Read support

Hi,
I read the same problem topic, but it didn't help me to solve my issue.

As written in the chest documentation, supported vector formats is shape files and geojson.

I tried to upload a shape file, but it always give me error in uploading.

Regarding geojson,

I converted GML polygon feature class using online conversion Ogr2Ogr
And I successfully upload it to chest, and I could see it in cheast and see my feature class,
But unfortunately I couldn't add it to my studio content or even see it in reader.

Plz support...

Re: Vector Read support

Have you added the GeoJSON to Content using "Create New Content" button in M.App Studio?

Re: Vector Read support

Yes,
I added it to the studio content, and it appears as a feature in the content list.

But When I'm creating new Map, it doesn't appear in the content list.

Re: Vector Read support

That's definitely strange. Can you share a small portion of the GeoJSON file?

Please use service like http://pastie.org or http://pastebin.com/

Hi amr_shawky,

few comments:

  • M.App Reader does not display GeoJSON or ther vector formats
  • Try to make the GeoJSON file smaller. Keep in mind that you create a web application and it might not be a wise idea to force users to download >5MB on each visit. I'd suggest using some geometry simplifying tool in GeoMedia to generalize the polygon features.
  • Try to export the file using WGS84 / EPSG:4326

Untitled2.png

Otherwise I was able to see the file in M.App Studio in the Content list and in the BI configuration. I was not able to set up a working map though but I assume that with a smaller file and WGS84 I would be successful.

Hi,

Initially, I were capable of seeing it in the Studio Content, BI map and also i added some charts of it,

but it coudn't be drawn by the smart map due to it's size (this is sample data exported from customer data, can't be cropped or changed)

anyway,

i used other simpler layer and it worked fine with me.

Thanks for your support.

Finally,

(the other part of my question)

What about Shape Files (as wrote in the Chest Help)?!!

it always gave me an error when tryimg to upload one...

Re: Vector Read support

WRT shapefiles. Is the error indicating a problem with the upload or the processing of the files selected? There isn't a lot of detail in the error message but if you watch the Task there is really only two places this can error; uploading or processing and both are quite different.

I'll assume here in my reply that the error is during processing as this is more likely. In this case I wonder what files associated with the .shp are being selected for the upload? Only selecting the .shp will lead to an error during processing as required files are missing. If this sounds like it might be your case try uploading the .shp along with the associated .shx, .dbf and .prj files.

If this errors as well then please indicate what files are being attempted for upload and provide a small data sample.

Re: Vector Read support

thanks sclow.

The problem was in the processing not in uploading.

I guess it's the same problem of the size of file.

Now i'm able to upload it successfully and using it in BI map.
