Exception occured when configuring Geospatial Portal instance GWM 16 Engineering Patch 04

[ Edited ]

After upgrading our Geomedia Web Map environement from 16.00 with the Engineering Patch 04 we get an error when we try to configure any Geospatial Portal (freshly created or existing upgraded one).

ERROR SUMMARY
Exception occured.

MOST LIKELY CAUSES:
- Service instance settings were modified manually and they are not correct.
- Server settings are being modified by another user.
Configuration Service is not operating correctly.

THINGS YOU CAN TRY:
- Please ensure that service instance settings are correct.
- Please ensure that You are the only person modifying the server settings.
- Please contact the administrator.
- Please verify, if there are no errors reported in Configuration Service logs.

Additionaly the browsing to the AdminPortal returns an error:

Server Error
500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

Both were working before applying the Engeneering patch.

I saw that there is a similar post

https://community.hexagongeospatial.com/t5/Support-WebGIS/Exception-occured-when-configuring-Geospat...

but we have a different error in the log file (See attached file for the relevant extract of the log)

---UPDATE----

After some playing we get a different error in the log file:

2018-02-11 14:19:51,144 [3] ERROR ErrorHandler [(null)] - The service encountered an unhandled exception
System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[System.ServiceModel.ExceptionDetail]:

(Fault Detail is equal to An ExceptionDetail,
likely created by IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults=true, whose value is:

Any idea what could be wrong?

Re: Exception occured when configuring Geospatial Portal instance GWM 16 Engineering Patch 04

Hi Gideon,

It could happen that the template files were not updated properly. You can try to delete the Portal template files (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Hexagon\Services\Templates) and then repair the EP04 installation.

Unfortunately this won't likely help with the instances that you tried to upgrade as those could have files messed up. But it should be possible to remove most of the files which aren't usually modified (DLLs, ASPXs, JS, CSS...) and copy over the new files from the reinstalled template.

Regards,

Jan
