Issue

Session Expired. Do you want to resume session?

Cause

By default IIS sets the Time Out for the Session to 20 minutes so after 20 minutes of inactivity in Geospatial Portal the Session times out and the Session Dialog box appears.

Solution

To increase the amount of time before inactivity, increase the Time Out value in IIS:

  • IIS 7 select the Geospatial Portal site > Session State > Time Out (In minutes).
  • IIS 6 select the Geospatial Portal site > Properties > ASP.NET tab > Edit Configuration button > State Management Tab > Session Timeout (Minutes)

The maximum value is 525,600 which equates to 1 year, but be aware of the possible increase of memory etc… that may be taken by having sessions open that are not in use.
